COMBAT OVERDOSE ON YOUR CAMPUS

Current Chapters

What does launching a TACO Chapter involve?

  • Deaths due to drug overdose are preventable through provision of education and harm reduction resources. As a TACO Chapter, you will bring non-judgmental and research-backed education about drug use, what happens when different drugs are combined, and the importance of utilizing Fetanyl test strips and Narcan - among other relevant topics.

TACO Chapters neither encourage nor condemn drug use of any kind. Your responsibility is to provide your community with the scientific facts that will empower each individual to make their own well-informed choices.

  • Prevent accidental overdoses caused by Fentanyl contamination of recreational drugs. Make free Fentanyl test strips readily available to your community and get feedback on the number of lives you save!

Use our step-by-step guide on effective methods to distribute Fentanyl test strips or find new ways that will best engage your community.

  • In the event someone overdoses on an opioid (like Fentanyl), Narcan - aka Naloxone - reverses the overdose and prevents the situation from becoming fatal.

Become a certified Narcan Trainer through TACO so you can train your community and provide free Narcan to save lives!

  • To keep Fentanyl test strips free for college students, TACO fundraises and pays for the cost of the strips. In this way, we remove financial barriers so everyone has access to this life saving tool.

As a TACO Chapter, you can host fundraisers using our step-by-step templates or your own unique ideas!

Make a Direct Impact

Many problems in this world feel unsolvable, death due to drug overdose doesn’t have to be one of them. These tragedies can be prevented. Your chapter can be that life-saving prevention.

By bringing research-backed drug safety education and resources to your campus, you can be a direct force of change in your community. You can ask USC, whose TACO Chapter has reduced the number of overdose deaths each school year down from double-digits to less than 1.

Team Awareness Combating Overdose

TACO is the only 501(c)3 overdose prevention non-profit by college students for college students. Our non-judgmental and research-backed mission to save lives from drug overdoses attracts volunteers of all backgrounds.

While many volunteers plan to pursue degrees in medicine, TACO also provides strong experience for those in the fields of business, engineering, and public relations - to name a few.

“When dealing with potentially addictive drugs, we must leave behind the idea that ignorance is bliss. In our modern society we must realize that ignorance is a risk and knowledge is bliss.”

— Dr. Sherrell Howard, UCLA
